Well the world of the wips is not so wonderful. The FLS is having a dye lot issue. Yes, I said it.

I can’t show you a picture because I frogged it. Well at least I frogged the offending portion. All of the dye lots are the same, but one skein is noticeably darker. And of course this is yarn that I can’t seem to find anymore of. So sucktastic.

I have another unused skein. But it’s not gonna be enough to finish the sweater. Yes, it’s a sad tale. A tale all knitters have heard. There’s a tear in my beer and all that rot.

Fortunately (???) I have so much homework and another sooper seekrit thing to knit, that I can almost pretend that this isn’t happening. Right?

I’m plugging along on my February Lady Sweater. It’s been a busy week with tons of homework and the fact the the Pub Club sock packages go out today! Woot! In fact, I’m waiting for Chris to call me so I can head over and help her put the finishing touches on the packages. But tomorrow another fun thing happens. The Yarn Harlot is coming to town. To be honest with you, I wasn’t going to go. But I put on my big girl panties (the ones with the martini glasses on them) and had someone else buy me a ticket.

But I digress. I really should rename this blog something about digressing. Because I can’t follow a train of thought to save my life. And I live *right* by the train tracks. Right. Back on track. Yarn Harlot. I must be even more excited to go to see her than I thought because last night I actually dreamed about her. She was sorting yarn into little cubes and I went up to talk to her. I don’t remember what dream-me said, but I must have sounded mental. Because the dream-harlot looked at me with pity and said, “Sweetie, can I get you some help? Call someone for you?”

Did this post have a point? Why yes, yes it did. My FLS is lovely, but bulky at this point, and if you’re going to see the Yarn Harlot you really have to knit socks. I mean it’s a great knitting tradition, right? So here’s the thing. Which sock should I knit? I feel like I should finish one of the socks that has no mate. I really do. But I don’t wanna. I wanna start a brand new sock. A sock made of happiness and light. Maybe a sock out of some Noro Silk Garden sock.

So there’s my sock possibilities. Five socks that need a partner. (Sooper seekrit is still in the witness protection program!) Three balls of Noro, and there is the claudia handpaint and the melody in the group shot, and some very lovely Sheldridge farms there. Hmmm… I think one of the Noros needs some love. Any votes?

That particular Tom Jones song will be forever tainted by the memory of Hugh Jackman singing it in Flushed Away. But most of my projects have songs attached to them. Songs that play in my head while I’m knitting on them, if it’s quiet around. Don’t tell me I’m odd. I already know that.

Now that the sooper seekrit deadline knitting is completed, I can go back to the lady. I had planned to have her done in time for the Yarn Harlot on Thursday. But alas, the sock had to be knit and photographed, so I was focused and determined. What? You say I have five entire days until the Yarn Harlot arrives? Well yeah, I do. But I also have a research project for Educational Psychology *and* a test in my Environmental Sciences class – due and to be done on Monday respectively. So tomorrow I will do laundry and research and studying. Fun times.

Would you like to see a crappy flash photo of my February Lady progress? See – that’s the benefit of a blog. You can comment and scream “No!” but by that time it’s too late. You’ve already seen it. Like the memory of your Uncle Bubba wearing the aforementioned big undies. Your retinas are already scarred.

I’m hoping that the concept of a WIP Wednesday might keep me honest and keep me working on one thing for awhile. Which we all know is the way you actually finish things. I don’t have a regular knitting group anymore, so no one asks me about the forlorn wips sitting at the bottom of my basket that never see the light of day again.

So today’s wip is the February Lady Sweater – aka the FLS. As you might know if you are a regular reader (bwahahahaha – that was funny – regular reader – snort!) – wait where was I? As you might know, mine is made of Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted in Cranberry. Last night I finally separated the sleeves and now it’s body talk time!

Everyone swears that once you get to the lace it goes like whoa. I’m hoping that’s true. It would be nice to finish something. So just for posterity’s sake, here’s where we are on Wednesday, October 1st, 2008. Yoke done, including first lace repeat. Sleeves separated. Body in progress. Ok, I get it. You’re bored. Just look at the pretty yarn.

Oh and the earworm of the day… Body Talk by the Deele. Takes you back to the roller rink, doesn’t it?
