Mama’s Got A Brand New Bag

So I was texting with Lisa of Lazy Sock Monkey Designs the other day and suddenly realized I had none of her bags. This of course had to be rectified immediately. I completely fell in love with this one:

And it is mine. I love the mustaches, I love the red lining, I love the little details, like the mustache ribbon accents. It is awesome and it is my new favorite.

But Lisa is also awesome and she sent me an extra bag. And her awesome generosity could be your lucky day! Because I am doing a giveaway.

So this is how you enter the contest. You make me smile. You tell me something funny or happy or give me a link for a funny picture. Something happy, something good in the comments and you are entered to win this sweet very happy Easter box bag!

  1. Happy is still getting good hugs & kisses from my youngest (who is growing up way too fast)!

  2. i don’t know if you’re a dog person, but i keep a link to this video bookmarked because it is so awesomely ridiculous that it never fails to make me smile: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gN9Fcc0qYc

Although my kids are grown, I can remember those same feelings! My advice? Hang in there, this, too, shall pass! And the best part? Not today, not tomorrow, but someday your child will come to you and say they are sorry for some particular thing/habit they did as a kid…and that you are the best mother in the world for putting up with it!!

  4. how about this funny re the newly updated TSA rules-Andy Borowitz always makes me laugh! http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/borowitzreport/2013/03/new-tsa-rules-draw-praise-of-national-arbitrariness-association.html

  5. My son is 4 years old, and like all 4-year-olds, he is obsessed with the word “poop.” Everyday he likes to call daddy at work and tell him to “have a happy poop day.” Silly, but funny, and a little gross all wrapped up into one. Gotta love little boys humor.

  6. No video here but I can tell you something that’s definitely made me SUPER happy lately: my 6 month old son as slept through the night for the last 3 nights!!! I feel like a new woman after 6 months of only 4 hours of sleep at a time (or less).

Thanks for sharing the love :)

And you make us happy with such beautiful designs! I am always “Wowed” when you post a new pattern!

  11. Here’s a couple of happy thoughts…I’m getting to go to Maryland Sheep & Wool this year and guess what I’ll be wearing? My CORDELLE shawl :) It’s still my favorite!

  12. My 4 year old was in time out today at school. It happened during the time when his normal teacher was on break, so she didn’t know what happened, and the other teacher was gone. When we asked him at dinner to tell us what happened, he proceeded to tell us a story about the new kid “Johnipher” who kicked him in the face and then he (my son) was sent to time out. OH, and Ben 10 and the Ninja Turtles came and saved him from the clutches of time out and then gave him candy.

Seriously…this was the story…and yet…he’s surprised that I’m having a hard time believing him ;)

  13. Maybe this will make you smile just a wee bit :) Flava Flav coonhound style! https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150228654089947&set=pb.633534946.-2207520000.1362622610&type=3&theater

  14. Don’t enter me in the contest, I never win. I just wanted to tell you to hang in there and ride the “funk” out. It’ll pass and you’ll be kickin’ ass again real soon. I think all good parents feel like they’re a failure every now and again…that’s why they work so hard to be good parents.

  15. This never fails to make me smile! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGeKSiCQkPw

  16. SHEEP are happy! And sheep with mustaches are even happier :)
Not much bearing on the hear and now, but maybe imagining a mustachioed sheep would cheer you up.

  17. Here’s a really happy house: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mybluemuse/2477989072/ All that color — wonder what the inside is like!

  18. Rahrahrah4riah says:

I picked up a rescued boxer today to foster until he finds his forever family. He rode all the way home sitting in my son’s car seat like he belonged there, with a big ol’ smile on his face. Sure out a smile on mine too. :D

  19. StatenislandSusan says:

Would telling you that seeing that Mustache Bag reminds me of an old boyfriend who wore a trucker’s hat, in public, that said “Mustache Rides – Free” make you laugh? It made me laugh. Made me do other things too that made me smile. :) hee You know I’m going right over to that shop and seeing if there are any more Mustache Bags to be had. I can’t stop smiling now. Thanks — I sure needed it! (My day hasn’t been going too well either!)
    Regards

newbie to your blog but starting your Evaline KAL tomorrow…another reason to smile!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Just wanted to say that we all feel useless — parenting is *hard*. But the thing is, if you think it is hard and it is wearing you out — you’re probably an awesome parent.

The thing that has made me smile in the past few nights is that my dd, 5.5, wants me to read the Children’s Bible to her before bed. And last night, after we read one story, she fipped through and saw pages for the new testament. So when I went to put the book away she she reached out her arms and started screaming “Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!”. I don’t know why, but it made me laugh. Probably because I’m waiting for her to say that in a crowd.

  21. I hate funks. I much prefer the days when I feel like Superwoman, when everything falls into place. Before you know it, you’ll have a day where everything clicks, and you’ll be flying high.

When my daughter was 2 or 3 I asked her one day what she wanted for lunch. She joyously responded, “Peanut butter and Jelly!……………When I say ‘peanut butter and jelly, I mean grilled cheese’!” This pretty much sums things up for us. Now she’s almost 16. I smile every time I think of it, and wish she would come out of her room and say funny stuff more often these days :)

  22. Marilyn says:

I’m sorry you’re having a hard time. I’ve been meaning to tell you that your Vittorio Shawlette pattern is one of my favorite things that I’ve knit. It was such a fun knit and it turned out beautifully. I still need to block it and take FO pictures. I’d love to knit it again. The latest thing that’s making me happy is getting to go to Stitches West a couple of weeks ago. I loved getting to buy more yarn for projects and meeting friends who I only “knew” from podcasts or online. Thanks for the chance to win!

  23. Here is a pouch/ knitting tool bag that will put a smile on your face. The perfect companion to your new bag.

I don’t have a box bag. The one you are giving away is adorable. I’d really like to win it.

  24. CAKE!! Cake makes me smile…. baking it, eating it even just looking at cakes makes me happy. (The pounds put on by eating cake doesn’t exactly make me smile but I have to say I love Cake anyway.)

  25. Knitmomma says:

Aw, sweetie! You are amazing – a good momma, and a great knit designer, and more, I’m sure!

Here, I hope this makes you smile. It did me!

  26. KarenVR says:

I’m frequently reminded of a song Bing Crosy sang in White Christmas : Part of it goes “When I’m worried, and I can’t sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep. . . ”

  27. I’m happy today because Spring Break is tomorrow! And when you work in a school…it means that you get spring fever just like the kiddos!!!!

  28. pam mcgary says:

Parenting is not for the weak – that is for sure. I can tell you that nothing made me smile more than the night after a soccer game when my dd (who turns 16 today) said “Thanks mom and dad for not yelling like the crazy soccer parents!”. (I am pretty sure she thinks we are crazy….just not yelling.)

  29. Im junk at linking (and mostly garbage at cyberspace in general) but google the grumpy cat. Every one of those memes make me giggle when I see them. Plus, that cat just really seems to understand me!!

  30. Your feeling of uselessness is invalid. I prove my argument that you are a wonderful mom, and talented, stunning woman to boot with this picture of bunnies in a basket.

    Hugs, lovely lady!!

  31. These bags are adorable, how cute to have a bag for knitting with sheep on it, love your column

  32. i have three kids: 17, 13, and 12 – so I feel your pain. About 2 weeks ago, my middle one had a track meet on a Fri night. It was unusually cold in Bama and we were frozen – outside from 4:00-7:30. I mean it was really cold – low 30s and wind blowing. He melted my heart when out of the blue he thanked me for being there to support him. Those sweet moments are what I live for!

  33. Lisa tomko says:

Knitting with my VKN friends always makes me happy! :) The sheep bag is adorable!

  34. Cute bags!!

  35. Karen Berglund says:

that looks like a nice bag to carry a sock project in. I’ll throw my hat in the ring, so to speak.

  36. One thing that always makes me smile is hearing my Quaker parrot Peanut say “good morning” to me each day. He is always so happy to see me in the mornings.

  37. Netta Schwartz says:

As a mother and now grandmother I can say that it all pays off when you watch your kids parent their children and use the EXACT lines that you used on them. Now they have to put up with the childrearing issues and you get to go home to peace and quiet! Lol

  38. Kareen (HeavensJoy) says:

I’m sure you are an awesome mom! And you certainly are an awesome designer! I love all your designs — they’re amazing! Here’s a link to some very cute baby lamb pics (skip the first part of the blog and go straight to the pics): http://www.barnontheweb.com/1/post/2013/03/two-days-of-work.html Hope they make you smile!

  39. Funk, funk go away, come again… well, actually, the funk can just go away.

  42. Jeanette Zimmerli says:
